Changes

With the coffee pictures from my break today (my coffee habits just got worse...because now it's not just what's keeping me awake but also what's getting me outside! Remember...I work in a basement.....) comes some deep thinking. One of my friends posted this today on facebook:

"It seems everyone I know right now is going through change in life or searching for their purpose in some way. Is this what some believe the Mayans meant for dec 21, in that we will be ushering in a new intellectual or spiritual era for mankind? Or are we ALWAYS going through change and searching for answers...and dec 21 is just another Friday?? Whatever the case, it seems that 2013 is highly anticipated :) wonder what's coming for all of us?"

We all change.
And need to readjust.
And find out what we want.
Have cool new makeover-ideas for our life (just to do two steps actually and than come up with a new plan).
That's good and it's normal.

The only difference: If we go with awareness through life, we actually notice that we change. And others do as well. But apart from that, I think it might as well just always happen.

So much for deep thoughts. Unrelated to that: I ate waaays too much stuff tonight. It was one of those days...

Photo(s) of the day {Lunch}

Lunch with work...well they call it potluck :D

Sooo many good things!
And someone was definitely super excited :D

DIY {phone make over the 3rd}

No crafts for weeks. I know. No one else feels more sad about it than I do. So here we finally go with some craftiness. A small 10 minute project involving only some masking tape and your phone(cover).

I made a cover for my phone this summer, but travelling made me use my phone even more. As a result it fell down. A lot. I put it out and in my pockets. A lot. I had it on hand. Always. So there was this point where all those tiny pieces of foil started to come off. So as much as I loved it, I had to change. Here we go:

Easy peasy lemon squizzy!

Take your phone back off. Wrap it with washi-masking tape. Put the back, back on. Easy as I said.

And all those tiny bits that you'll cut off: So useful for all this tiny stuff you have to stick in your diary/calender/notebook...
Not mind blowing but an easy solution for a tiny bit of color ;)

Saturday {Jogging, fog and a bit of sun}

The week is done and I went super early to sleep on Friday (super early like 8PM early!!) so as a result of that I was also super early awake this morning.
My life before always consisted of a lot of moving.I would walk/ride my bicycle to school, I would go for a walk through downtown later/run some errands/walk through Stanley park/waterfront/... I was always moving. So I never really felt the urge to do extra sport. Guess who feels like some extra sport lately!

Sitting 40 hours a week is hard for me. I try to fit in as much exercise I can. I look for coffee shops not too close to my work, I drive two bus stops more than I have to just to walk a bit but it's still not enough. So I went jogging this morning. Bright and early.

Still pretty dark...
It is nice to be out early when no one else is awake yet. And it was foggy. Foggy means this special kind of silence. The one which makes you feel good :)

Also very rare: An empty street in front of our house...
Seagulls
Park benches and fallen leaves
I also went to buy stuff I need. Sport and To-Do's! What do you want more! And on my way back the sky already looked much more pleasant...

Pink and a bit of blue
Water droplets
By now the sun is shining (at least it's peaking thorugh the clouds occasionally), everyone else is up as well and I'll be heading to the Christmas market in Yaletown. My first one this year! Yay for the upcoming Christmas!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend and lots of coziness :)

Listening to:
  • Lenka - Everything at once
  • OneRepublic - Feel Again
  • Rihanna - Diamonds
  • Justin Bieber (I can't belive it either, I know) - As Long As You Love Me
  • Mumford & Sons - The Cave

Photo of the day {November, Tuesday}

My first Matcha Latte ever! Quite green. And it actually does taste like grass! (I thought my colleague was joking...). Well we'll see ;)

Oh and the 167 Days in Canada section has been updated. Have fun in the middle of your week :)

Some every-day things {life at its normal stage}

So after I finally caught up with the last weeks posts I wanted to catch up with a bit more recent stuff. With a 40 hours work week it's all about the small in-betweens that make your life ;)

Raphael loves to jump into pictures.......
Back from Saturday in Seattle: I did not really point out at how much I enjoyed shopping in Anthropology. Well now I did! Oh...and can you see how much the others did (apart from jumping into pictures which were actually supposed to display all this awesome kitchen stuff...which I want in my non-existing kitchen right now!) Anyway. They survived ;)
(And my cup I bought accompanies me every day now)

I love my breakfast muesli each morning. Fruits and yogurt and nuts and jam and granola...so much goodness in one bowl! And since it's all sugar reduced, high in protein and fibre (well take out the jam) but apart from that: It's also healthy! Yay!

The weather is...the way everyone expects it to be. No news here.

Nice decoration in one of the shops in Gastown (actually my phone wallpaper right now...) and they were filming fringe right in front of my work just the other day! Walking past officers and vintage dressed people on my way to get coffee definitely adds up to the whole break-experience!

Thinking about buying a new black dress...but I'm not really satisfied yet. So still looking :)

Apart from that it's really getting dark now early. Gone are the days of sunshine and T-shirts. Though cozy evenings at home with a book and some hot honey-ginger-lemon water have definitely something as well. Have a good start in your new week :)

Seattle

Seattle.
So I said I would blog about Seattle separately (and I planned to do it waaays earlier) but adapting to a new life and still balancing it with meeting friends definitely takes up some time. So I've been out and around the last couple of days and just went home to collapse for some sleep before my day would start again.

Anyway. We started super early on Monday (I had to wake up at 6! That is early...for a free day right!?) because our plan was to meet at 7 at the airport. Planned. Done. At around 7:30 we were ready (equipped with breakfast) in hour car, heading out to pick the last of us five up from his house.

Good Morning ;)
Since it's autumn and we're in Vancouver it had to rain. Naturally.But since we all happened to have lived here for a couple of month by now, who cares about a little bit of rain ;)

Driving, driving, driving...not pictured: The music, the singing (me quietly in the front :P) and all those cameras :D
 We made it to the border quick but had to wait there pretty long to pay our 6$ to cross.

waiting in line....
After some minor complications (they definitely need a few more signs...) we drove for another 1 1/2 - 2 hours and finally arrived in gray and rainy Seattle.

First sight
Downtown by car, trying to find the actual downtown
After some circles and confusing answers to confusing questions we made it to a parking garage. And if someone asks: Yes! We needed the large parking space!

Seattle reminded me in many ways of Vancouver, though I think I like Vancouver better. But on the other hand: I spent one day in Seattle and three month in Vancouver...so it might not be this accurate ;)
After discovering that the blue trees were under construction we headed to the first Information Map we could find to organize our day.

Under construction...
Where to go to
We wanted to see the Public Market, the first Starbucks and do some shopping. Oh, and have lunch! (It was around 12 and we got up early, remember!?)

The Public Market seemed like the perfect place to have lunch, so there we went...

discovering small in between streets...
Passing the first Starbucks on our way...though we couldn't really bother to go in...hence a loooong long line!

And we found a nice spot for our lunch. Sitting outside (even though it was cold). I liked those tin cans as plant holders :)
And with freshly filled stomachs: More sightseeing!

Can you see the ferris wheel!?
Here it is ;P
A busy Public Market from the inside...
Colours and greens and sweets and crafts...everything...
We left the public Market for some shopping and a coffee break afterwards. And I went into my first Anthropology store EVER! And I looooooved it!...much to the disadvantage of my friends...sorry....
And while shopping we remembered that we once had heard of something called a gum wall. A gum wall! Well sure we had to find that one! Turned out we had to walk all the way back to the public market...but oh well! We made it ;)
It was...gross. (Sorry) But interesting.

Some artistic girls
wondering what all those blotches are?!
well let's get a bit closer...
GUM!
Everywhere...
The clouds disappeared during our afternoon...leaving us with a beautiful sky in the evening. Seattle.

And since we didn't go on top of it, we took at least some nice pictures of it! Skyline of Seattle.

And back we went. Waiting hours again at the border, returning the car and all trying to catch our last buses and skytrains. But definitely a wonderful day!

Stanley Park {My saturday}

Because I like things in order, here comes my Saturday before my Seattle-Monday:

After this crazy last week we decided to just meet with friends and take a walk through Stanley park on Saturday. (Also introducing my friends new camera to the world!!!)
The weather was awesome from Monday to Saturday so we got to enjoy this last day to the fullest!

It was weird to walk through Stanley Park again. The last time I did it, it was summer, wonderful hot (I was wearing shorts) and we headed to the beach for swimming. Now I was wearing jeans, three layers of sweaters, leg warmers, cloves a scarf...and I was still cold.
Two month. It seams more like a year.

The Lost Lagoon
Happy new camera owner ♥
Haha they know I sneak up on people from behind
"Stop! Feet picture!"..."did she just say stop feet picture?!"...Jep she totally did ;)
Because I find shoes everywhere in Canada!
Because I find shoes everywhere in Canada!
Ha! Even though it's cold and I'm wearing jeans!
Wood Crocodile
I think I like autumn...sometimes...:)
Down down to the water....
...where the sun says goodbye....

We headed to Starbucks afterwards to warm up with tea and coffee (and that took quite a while, believe me!) and I had a birthday dinner with friends afterwards. Lazy weekends are the best. And the one you spend with friends ♥
