In between

I know...there are some mistakes in it. In my defence: I was already staring at a white paper several minutes, slowly getting depressed. You don't think much at this point, do you?

DIY: Mobile sleeve

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!

This one is actually done in a few minutes with minimal effort. Sounds good, doesn't it?
So:
What you'll need
  • nice lining fabric
  • thick felt
  • ribbons (optional)
Cut your lining fabric and felt to the size of your phone (slightly bigger).

1. Seam your lining fabric at both ends.
2. Add any lace/ribbons/decoration to the "outside" of your felt first.
3. Then, place your lining fabric inside your felt and "close" with two simple lines of stitches at both sides (be careful that it fits your phone).
4. Cut off any extended fabric/felt.

And that's it. Enjoy your new sleeve and smile whenever you take it out ;)

The Grouse Grind {my personal Hunger Games}

So I flew up that mountain, took a smiling picture, had a chat with bears and flew back down.

Sounds good but....SO not true.
Here we go with my personal Hunger Games.

We did the Grouse Mountain walk on Saturday. My host family had already told me about it and I was really looking forward to it! Well this is what I thought it would be like:

It looked all right. We had picked a day with wonderful weather (normally there are a lot of clouds around grouse mountain) and brought water and food. Optimistic people we were!

-"What does it say?"
-"Well...I have actually no idea...I just took a picture"
^^'

And off we were.

It sure is amazing! We always had some squirrels at our side, you can't hear any cars or airplanes and due to all the trees it wasn't too hot. Though. After some time the only thing I saw was this:

Because that was when reality hit me:

This. was. the. most. MOST. exhausting. thing. I. ever. did. in. my. whole. life.
...just sayin'

Thank you Raphael for asking me every ten minutes if I'm still ok. Repeating it actually made me sort of believe I was alright. Almost...
At the end it took us 1:22 hours to go up. I don't think that this is bad at all. (My host family made it in 2:30) But just so you know: There are actually people who do this is 25 MINUTES!!
Anyway we sure did arrive:

Important: Refill your bottle!
Enjoy the view
Look out for hiding bears
and cute deers (this one ran across our path...)
And we so did the walk down as well!
And because this is what kept me alive the 1:22 hours (I imagined how it would be to actually write it down!!)

I survived the Grouse Grind!

We'll see if we do it again :D
and a sunset on my way back to say goodbye :)

Vancouver {How was your week}

Jedes Mal wieder Atemberaubend

Vancouver {green and colourful}

Here we go with starts. I'm not god at them so why don't just jump head first into the topic? ;)

Some friends and I went to Lynn Canyon today. It took me some time to realize it was the place I went to last week but it was fun anyway. Since it was a sort of an "unplanned out-of-the-moment-action" (there had been the movies first) none of us had any swimsuits so we just went for the hiking part. And fun it was for sure!
This is actually how I imagined Canada to be. Really green, huge huge trees and moos all over the place. I fell in love with it at first sight. So if you long for some green this post should be just right for you ;)

Let's go!!

Drückt mir also bitte die Daumen ;)

Ganz liebe Grüße an dich ;)

In between

The Color Me Rad 5k in Vancouver

It was amazing!
I had heard of the color me rad race before on some blogs and wished at that time, that I might get the opportunity to do it some day. I did not think of it that soon. But I loved it anyway.

The actual race was set up at 9 but we were supposed to be there at 8:15 AM. Since my bus timetable did not care for personal favours/wishes I was there at 8AM. Means: Standing up at 6 to eat something, pack my bag, get myself ready and head to the bus station (including 41 minutes in the bus and 10 minutes of walking)
Waiting for the bus
It was funny to see the bus slowly filling with people in white clothes (or at least: white shirts) Lucky me! This way, I was sure where to get off and just had to follow all the other white shirts.
I arrived (as just mentioned) one hour early. No team. No number yet (A friend of mine picked it up the day before and would not come for another 45 minutes). Well it was a little bit depressing. Since I did not really feel like bursting into any team and asking if I could join them I grabbed a paper and pen and did it my way:

"I need a team :) Do you have a free place? :D"

So creative I know ;) Anyway: It totally worked. (Thanks for nice people who are amused by the stuff I do!)
Best team ever (Jep they already had their sunglasses and numbers. I was still waiting for mine to arrive^^)
They did arrive.

Let the races begin!!

We were quite a few so they let people start in little waves. Which meant that we had to wait for 15/20 minutes. But it also meant we would not be overran by others. (And free time is the best photo time ever, isn't it?!)
Well our time came anyway. So let's get the color on!!

I started "high fiving" pretty much everyone. Which turned out to be a mistake since my hand is still blue...
The race was organised in certain periods were you would run and color stations in between. All sorted by color. Pink. Orange. Blue. Yellow. Green. Purple.

My first wave. Before and in

I think I resembled the avatar people pretty much in the end. Though that's definitely something fun!

It ended with one big color bombing every 10 minutes, though I only joined one and watched one other one. By that time I had color everywhere :D

Thanks to everyone who made it unforgettable!!

And the quote of the race: "I can already feel the power of color!!" (Little boy running past me)
Yay for that one and hands up!
