Sunday {Deep cove}

I'm still not finished with weekend-posts, but since it was a long one I think it's sort of ok ;)

So. After my Berry Saturday we set up Deep cove with friends for Sunday. Which means: Bus, sea bus, bus, change, bus. We do love public transportation...sort of....

Just like everything else here it is water and woods. But the water is really clear and you can get some kayaks if you want. And if you're clever enough to dress appropriate (which means: Don't wear long jeans and trainers on a hot and sunny day!...we did)

Streets and houses

Well the question is: Is this really a trail??

So after having lunch on a bench and some walking, we were sort of stuck on what to do. Hiking had not really worked out (hint: trail above. Turned out we had missed the real one) and kayaking was not really an option (hint: clothes). Anyway. On our attempt to find a place where we could have lunch again we found out that deep cove actually has a really cute street packed with nice shops and awesome food.
So, If you are ever going to go to deep cove try out this cafe and Lala and ;)

Sandwiches. Quote - "If I'm ever going to be depressed and it's raining, I'll just grab my kindle and come out here to have a donut and a coffee...and everything will be ok" - "Call me if you do that"

And that one is for my mum: Guess what I bought ;)

However eating is nice, you can't do it all the time you so can! We just did it. So we headed back early. Not every day has to end late. And did I mention how much we love public transportation on Sundays?!

Honey's

Delicious sandwiches and soups. A cosy and warm atmosphere and really really awesome pastries. Located on Gallant Ave. just shortly before Lala's 

Maple glazed Doughnut (The best I ever had)

No pictures from the inside but I guess you get a glimpse on what it's like. Cozy, warm, personal and after all I think all those people say enough :)

This one is my favourite. It's a collection of things in a little, beautiful designed, store with really friendly people working there (Thanks for all the photos I were allowed to do) . I would have bought everything if I'd have the money to do so...

My Saturday II {Water, Waves and Waterfalls}

The second part of our Saturday happened spontaneously when we got a phone call while on our way back from the Berry picking. Their friends asked if we had time to join them for the afternoon. Since most of it was in Tagalo (the Filipino main dialect. Did I write it right...?) I did not really understand much of it but any activity and I'll join ;)
So back home, packing food and important things and off we were again.

I went out for some exploring on my own afterwards. I just love the feeling of sun and wind on my skin mixed with the smell of salt from the sea.

We spent our afternoon there. Eating, walking, thinking, writing, sketching...and surprisingly: dancing!

...though there aren't any pictures of me dancing...luckily...but I sure did!

At the end we headed to Shannon falls. More wood and water.

Woods here are different to the ones I'm used to from home. Everything is bigger. And above all: greener! It makes you feel so small. But I think it's a nice way to remind myself on how nature is not something we can control or what we own. It's something we're allowed to live in.

We headed back home late and I skipped dinner and just went to bed...makes for an exhausting but fun day.

Happy Berry Pickers :)

Blueberry and Strawberry picking with my host family :)
When they first told me about it I had those tiny bushes in my had which we used to find in the woods at my grandpas. You would pick tiny tiny blueberries and it would take for hours...and you'd be blue afterwards ;) (It was still a lot of fun though!!)
So I was positively surprised when I discovered that blueberries are different here :D

I somehow doubted the bucket would get any berries at all since I was just eating them all time but it worked out all right

After about an hour or so, I was so full of them I couldn't even go on with my picking (unbelievable, isn't it!?) but there were still strawberries to go for ;)

The containers do look nice in all those colours, don't they?!

At the end I had 4 1/2 pounds blueberries and 2 pounds strawberries for 7$! An old Indian man was in charge of the payment. He wore a bright orange turban and did everything with as less talking as possible. It was this orange turban that got stuck in my head and now he's part of the story. Anyway. So much to my Saturday morning. More of my afternoon tomorrow :)
